Standard V: Instruction and Assessment
- A beginning teacher facilitates, monitors, and assesses student learning.
A. Teach lessons based on
· Alaska Performance Standards or GLEs (Grade Level Expectations) where developed;
· Alaska Content Standards;
· district curriculum; and
· individual and special needs of students
B. Select appropriate assessments that measure what students know, understand, and are able to do.
C. Analyze and use data from formative, interim, and summative assessments to guide instruction and planning.
D. Identify and use a variety of instructional strategies and resources appropriate to the individual and special needs of students (e.g., students with disabilities, English language learners, gifted students).
E. Assist students to reflect on their own progress using assessment data.
F. Use a record keeping system to monitor and report student progress and attendance.
G. Communicate ongoing student progress in a timely manner to students, parents, administrators, and other audiences.
